Stream stops

Postby Toxxico » May 05 2010 - 03:09

Hey,

When I stream video the stream stops after about 10 minutes (if another file in playlist that item will begin playing).
I am sure this is just a setting somewhere propable in apache or PHP but since I am totally new to all this I need help.

I am running Jinzora 2.8 under Wamp 2 (Apache 2.2.11, PHP 5.3.0, MySQL 5.1.41). No embedded player but downloading m3u playlists that I open with VLC.

Try to raise your execution_timeout in your php.ini for apache.

I cant find execution_timeout in my php.ini. Where should I be able to find it? or should I add anything?

Also. it seams that the stream stops at differrent times for different files, I think it might be based on how many Mb I send not by actual time

Try to change the following settings in your php.ini to a higher value. The values are as I have set them.
Code: Select all
max_execution_time = 1200

Code: Select all
max_input_time = 1200

Code: Select all
memory_limit = 256MB

ok I tried changing only the memory_limit to 512Mb. After that I tried streaming a file of 700mb. it should be 1h 37 m. simple math tells that 512 Mb of the 700 makes 1h 10 m of the 1 h 37 m. and as tested the file stopped at about 1h 10 m. So this seams to be the solution for me.

However this just cant be good. Wouldnt this mean that if I have several users looking at video it would really fast use up my servers RAM? Shouldn't there be a better way for streaming? or can there be some simple changes in any settings made?

At least you were able to find a solution :) Your question about using up your servers can't be answered by me. I don't really have a busy server and I'm using an embedded player. Haven't had any complaints yet :)
I hope you'll find the solution you need.
